Etsy.com website review

For the buyer,

 Etsy can be a great place to buy unique handmade items or items you can't find anywhere else. But be careful Etsy will target you and shut down your store if they deem your store not handmade enough 

The difference between Etsy compared to Amazon is in the amount of small businesses you will help shopping on Etsy. Amazon etc. has small businesses but Etsy is almost exclusively small business owners. Also, the amount of handmade and unique items is 20 percent of what Etsy sellers sell. Most of what they sell is pre-made items from china and other areas. 

For sellers:

There are a lot of opportunities to sell on Etsy. Be careful if you going to invest in etsy make sure your item is truly handmade, if not you could lose your account even if you been selling the same items for years. They specialize in handmade items. Etsy has its own SEO and search engines for the items you post on Etsy. Etsy being able to advertise your products at no extra fee is a plus.

If you have a website you have to advertise on Google, Facebook, etc. With Etsy, you get their advertisement at no extra charge. Compare Etsy Amazon which charges up to 25 percent of the total selling price. Esty charges only 4 percent. Google is number one for pay per click but you have to pay Google if you sell or you don't with Etsy you pay them when you sell which makes the relationship a win-win which is the best relationship. Another point is once you have an Etsy store there is an immediate trust and confidence you don't get in a new unknown store. You end up spending a lot of funds to make your brand trusted. 

One con is you don't have control of reviews, and you are at the mercy of buyers. If you get a negative review you have to try to work it out with the buyer there's no way to contest the review for unfairness. 

Revised review, I have been seeing a lot of complaints from Esty sellers that Esty is targeting their ads or stores for removal. They seem to target certain stores for a reason nobody knows. When I did my research there are a lot of stores selling the same thing and some get harassed and some don't. They will state that your listing is not handmade this is usually not accurate or they can't prove it.
